[community profile] snowflake_challenge Day 3:

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

How about three sets of three fics?

In your own space, share a favourite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone.

The Rayearth fandom is sort of my extended family. There are so many things that have happened to me because of the friends I have made through the Cephiro Forum and fanfiction. I mean, we've had multiple meet-ups and keep in constant contact with discord. A bunch of us even exchange Christmas cards.

But I suppose my favourite memory is more of a long rolling snowball of many memories all orginating from over eleven years ago, when a certain Rayearth fic was posted over on Fanfiction.net and I started to read it.

A few months later, I created the forum mentioned above and the author and I started talking regularly for a while, especially while she was studying abroad in a more convenient time-zone, before going our separate ways for a few years. (I missed her more than I like to admit sometimes in those years...)

Years later, when she resurfaced on Tumblr, I made FuckYeahRayearth to get her attention (yeah, [personal profile] down , that happened...), and we got to talking again. Then I invited myself over to visit soggy England. Then I visted again, and again, and... well, one thing led to another and two and a half years ago we got married.

With a subtle Rayearth theme, of course. (There was also a steam train!) Our dresses were the colours of our shared OTP, and the bouquets were made from the first volume of the manga.

Basically, the Rayearth fandom is so far entangled with my life that I wouldn't be where I am right now without it. I don't know what I would be doing, or even who I would be if I had never clicked that fic.

Can your best fandom memory be your entire life as it currently is?

I think it was at least a month ago that [personal profile] down  mentioned wanting to do the [community profile] snowflake_challenge . When she described it, I was interested in the idea of a challenge encouraging participation in your fannish communities.

This will be my first time participating, so I only have a small idea of what the challenge entails. I have started skimming through the challenges from last year. I feel like it will be a good way to get myself to be more active over here on Dreamwidth. I was once very active on LJ, then wandered over to Tumblr, but I miss the format of sites like this and the ability to have good comment conversations.

If any of my other few followers want to participate, you can find more information here: [community profile] snowflake_challenge .
