NaNo Update Day........ 12
Nov. 12th, 2017 10:49 pmI had grand plans of posting updates for every day of NaNo. I haven't even actually written every day for NaNo, let alone tried to update. But maybe it could get me back in the habit of blogging, or something. (I kind of miss the old LJ days of keeping up with people via their blogs)
Anyway, I am working on my new Rayearth epic, Sanctuary, for NaNoWriMo this year. I guess that makes me a rebel, as it is a project I have posted five chapters of so far. (technically, there were once six chapters posted over on FFN back in 2012).
It's an old story that I like the base plot of (which is kind of obvious given I have written variations on it since I first started writing fics in the fandom.) and I have been trying to improve upon the old version in a number of ways. Mainly world building and better characterisation and HOW IS THIS GOING TO BE 36 CHAPTERS SO EASILY???!!
More or less the theme is Umi and clef make terrible decisions together and are shit about keeping that and the results of those decisions a secret from everyone, despite it being treason. Cue nonsense theme tunes for nonsensical dramas!
Today, I have written basically nothing. I have possibly worked out an issue I was having with the next chapter that I am poking, and might have just accepted that my pacing is all kinds of nonsense. I mean, I suppose it makes sense to make part one be like 6 days in 10 chapters, then part two being like 6 months in 10-13, because there are different plot points I am trying to hit in each. I mean, part one does kind of lay down the whole set up of the story. Two people who shouldn't be together decide they want to be together and ignore the reasons why that is a bad idea. Part two is shit hitting the fan... which takes a bit longer than a week to happen. And part three is all of that culminating in no one giving a fuck who should, so whatever, right?
I don't know... I have no idea what is going on. Really I don't.
What even is this fic? Help?
