gargantua29 prompted ‘home’ for the A-Z Drabble Meme.
He dropped his key into the little bowl by the door and kicked off his shoes as he stepped into the tiny flat. It was little more than two simple rooms, one had a little kitchenette and the other one was ridiculously small for the double bed it held.
One little light was on in the kitchen. ‘So he wouldn’t fall when he came back,’ she’d said when he’d argued the waste of electricity. But when had Robin every really taken no for an answer.
There was a covered plate sitting on the table, the air around it vaguely scented with garlic and basil.
Hanging his coat over the back of a chair, Amon crossed the cheap linoleum floor and glanced into the tiny bedroom. His companion lay sound asleep under the blankets, curled in her usual place closest to the wall.
For all the changes of country and quarters, nothing had changed. Yet it was all so different. For once in his life, he’d felt comfort, even relaxation when he stepped through the door they both shared.
And he was not ready to give that up.
